Shore Monitoring & Research

Shore Monitoring & Research is an innovative coastal engineering company, founded in 2009.

Our strength is our affinity with the shore, the ability to gather data in challenging environments and the educational background and experience to analyse it.

We specialise in monitoring and researching morphological and hydrodynamic processes along the shore.

Watch us on national television, working on the morphological monitoring campaign of 'the Sandengine'.

(if in a hury, relax! Or scroll to 1min49s)

We are the best surf zone surveyors around. With a unique and flexible survey system we can survey in a minimum waterdepth of only 0.8 m. Because of our flexibility and experience in the surf zone we can isolate the impact of storms on our coasts, providing valuable knowledge for sustainable coastal protection methods.

Apart from monitoring campaigns, we also perform tailor made bathymetric surveys for dredging companies like Van Oord and Boskalis in challenging survey areas.

We are constantly broadening our experience in collecting hydrodynamic data. From deploying in situ instruments to using GPS drifters. The GPS drifters are used to measure current patterns over complex bathymetries, in the surf zone or in the vicinity of coastal structures. They are indispensable for beach safety and rip current research.

Furthermore, we use open source state of the  art numerical models developed by various scientific institutes (e.g. Delft University of Technology). With these models we are able to model waves, currents and morphology in great detail at competitive prices.
